Sea Turtle, Part I
I.
You left me!
No child, I never left you.
You have been in my heart
from the moment I birthed you.
I have kissed you good morning
each day, and watched over you
until night, when I kissed you
again and sat with the moon
who watched over us both.
I hold you to my heart.
How can we be separate?
You are life of my life
breath of my breath
heart of my heart
blood from my blood.
Your bones come from
the calcium of my body
which filled my bones before
the hardening of the shell of your egg.
In all the universe
there is only you, my child
and I, your mother
with that same DNA.
