Sea Turtle, a Poem in 10 Parts

Freedom: a resident of Isla Mujeres told me that Tortuga, the Sea Turtle,
stands for freedom because it leaves its young to find their own way.
After hatching the baby turtles go to find water,
the Sea.
The Mother of us all.

I wrote this poem there, and offer it here in 10 parts. It is for my mom, with thanks to C.H., of Isla Mujeres, who explained to me the story of the Tortuga. December 2021.
