Sea Turtle, Part II

II.

I lost you.
Where are you?
The waves took me under
in their froth. I was dazzled
by the brilliance of the light
underneath.

A moment,
and everything tumbled.
There was sand everywhere
and shells
plants,
rocks ...
You disappeared and I do not know
where I am.

The currents took me so far
away. It is clear and cold now.
The sea bottom is smooth and white.
There is no trace of our steps ...
Your favorite flower and
the seagrass we played in
is gone. I cannot find the rocks
even of the octopus you told me to
beware!

The ocean sings to me
at night as I cry.
